Swim Meet Information
The Wahoos Swim Team participates in NVSL Dual Meets (Saturday morning A-Meets), Development Meets (Monday night B-Meets), Divisional Relay Carnivals, All-Star Relays, Individual Divisionals, and Individual All-Stars Meets.
Additional information about those meets can be found in under the Swim Information Tab: NVSL Dual Meets, Developmental Meets, Divisional Relay Carnivals, All-Star Relays, Individual Divisionals, and Individual All-Star.
NVSL rules pertaining to swim strokes, events, disqualifications, league eligibility, procedures, and scoring are published in the NVSL handbook, available on the NVSL website.
Meet Officials and Volunteers
A successful meet requires many volunteers. If you have a swimmer participating in a Saturday NVSL or Monday Developmental Meet please plan to volunteer during the meet.
To support the swimmers competing in the meet, every meet requires timers, deck marshals, a clerk of course, starters, stroke & turn judges, relay take-off judges, table workers, and announcers. Home meets also require snack bar workers and other volunteers. Please see the volunteer page for more information.
Our ability to run meets and social events for the swimmers are completely dependent on volunteers. Each Wahoo family must support the team – whether volunteering on the pool deck as a timer or official or helping to organize a social event. It takes over 40 volunteers to time, officiate, & score one swim meet – over 450 different volunteer activities over the course of one summer season! Volunteers are the backbone of our neighborhood team – the Wahoos cannot succeed without your help!
Anyone thinking about becoming an official should contact our head official. We need officials to run all our meets. Serving as an official is a unique opportunity to learn more about swimming and get a great view of the meet! Dates for training clinics are available from the Team Reps and are posted on the NVSL website at www.mynvsl.com.
Time Trials
Time Trials: Saturday 13 June at 8:30am, warm-ups at 7:30am (Sign-up closes Saturday, June 6 at 11:59pm)
Make-up Time Trials: Monday 15 June during practice
This intra-squad meet is the first meet of the swim season. During the Blue & Orange Time Trials meet, swimmers may swim all events and establish their seed times for the upcoming season.
The meet is open to all Wahoo swimmers who wish to obtain a time in one stroke or up to all four strokes.
The coaches use these times to plan for our first Saturday NVSL Dual Meet and establish a best / base time for each swimmer. All swimmers are encouraged to participate if they can swim across the pool. (IM is not swum at Time Trials since it is not swum at Saturday NVSL meets.)
A swimmer will not be able to swim in a Saturday NVSL Dual Meet until he/she has established a seed time in that stroke, which means that if a swimmer is unable to attend the scheduled time trials, he or she will not be able to swim in the first NVSL meet (except possibly in the rare case that the Wahoos do not have enough legal swimmers to fill three lanes at a Saturday meet).
Wahoos Lollipop Meet
The Lollipop Meet is a fun, Wahoos-only meet for 8 and under swimmers who do not swim in the Saturday NVSL meets, with participants receiving lollipops instead of ribbons. The Lollipop Meet includes kickboard races, and 10-15 meter and 25-meter races of certain strokes, to allow every Wahoo a chance to participate and show off their improved swimming skills. The meet is run by 9 to 12-year-old Wahoo volunteers (with adult supervision), who announce the events, run the stopwatches, and manage the clerk of course process.
This meet is held in place of morning practice the last Thursday of the season – July 23, 2026.
