Wakefield Chapel Wahoos

The Wahoos team is made up of swimmers of varied abilities, from advanced swimmers to those just learning the basics of the sport. Registration is open to swimmers who are at least age 4 and under 19 years of age as of June 1. If a swimmer is 18 on June 1, the swimmer may participate the entire swim season, even if the swimmer turns 19 on June 2. (This is an NVSL rule.)

You must be a current member of Wakefield Chapel Recreation Association, in good financial standing, to join the Wahoo Swim Team. This is a requirement of the NVSL league and cannot be waived.

On-line registration opens on this website in mid/late April. Once registration is open, you will click on the “Register Now” button on the top right side. Please register early to secure your swimmer’s spot for the season. Swimmers cannot participate in team activities until their registration is paid in full.

If your family had a Wahoos SwimTopia Account in 2025, you must login using that account information to register. Please DO NOT create a new account – use the “forgot password?” function to reset your password. It creates a lot of extra work on the back-end when we need to consolidate separate family accounts.

All NEW Wahoo families will need to create an account on the new Swimtopia site. Please use an email address that you will check DAILY to ensure you receive all swim team information. Email is our PRIMARY form of communication!

The system will walk you through all of the registration steps. Please be sure to complete all fields and provide accurate contact information in your registration / team web account. It is essential that we are able to contact parents/guardians/emergency contacts in the case of an emergency.

All swimmers will receive a team T-Shirt with their registration. You must select your child’s size when you register. Only swimmers who register prior to May 15 will be guaranteed their preferred size. Swimmers should wear their team t-shirts to every meet. We do not order or have extra replacement / inventory t-shirts.

OPTIONAL Personalized silicone swim caps with the Wahoo logo and swimmer LAST name are available to be ordered ONLY during registration. Cap orders will close on in early May so that we receive them prior to our first meet.

Each family is required to fulfill volunteer hours during team social events and meets. Our meets and social events depend on your participation! Wahoos Volunteer Requirements are agreed to as part of the registration process. 

Purchase of the official Wahoo swimsuit and swim cap are optional. The team does not provide a swim cap with registration (they can be ordered for an additional fee).

We select one suit as the Wahoos team suit for each two-year period. The 2026 team suit is the 2nd year of the Nike Pool Lanes Suit in Orange. You can see the suit online at the team website, click on the Team Suit & Spiritwear link. Team suits are available for purchase (at a team price) from Suit-Up Water Sports, 10631 Braddock Road, Fairfax (703-278-8202).

Please note that during meets, caps containing logos for other swim teams are not allowed. If a swimmer chooses to wear a swim cap, it must be a Wahoo team cap or a plain cap with no writing or symbols of any kind. Swimmers can wear their NVSL all-star caps if they have one. (This is an NVSL rule.)

Each swimmer should bring the following to every practice: goggles, water bottle, a swim cap (if the swimmer prefers). Please have your swimmer apply sunscreen before arriving to practice.

It’s not required, but highly recommended that swimmers wear personalized swim caps, as they allow the coaches to communicate with swimmers more easily in the water and on deck.
